Epilepsy Foundation Honors Local Youth Living With Epilepsy
Fabulous 50’s party at local Mulligan’s to raise awareness and funds
West Palm Beach, FL, May 31, 2012 – Mulligan’s Beach House Bar & Grill in four Treasure Coast locations is hosting a Fabulous 50’s party on August 16th from 5pm to 8pm. Mulligan’s will be donating 10% of all sales during the party to the Epilepsy Foundation of Florida for its youth programs.
Epilepsy affects more than 326,000 children under the age of 15. Each year, some 50,000 Americans die from seizures and related causes. More than 375,000 Floridians live with epilepsy, the third most common neurological disorder in the US after Alzheimer’s and stroke. About as many people have epilepsy as have cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease – combined. More people die yearly from seizure-related causes than die from breast cancer.
Three Treasure Coast youth, Justin Parsons, Chris Flaig, and Randy Visser, will represent the Epilepsy Foundation at the Fabulous 50’s party. Attendees are encouraged to dress in 50’s garb and to bring the family since kids eat free. There will be many activities including crafts, face painting, toys, balloons and a special appearance by Rock-n-Roll Spongebob.
Chris Flaig notes that he and the other youth “wish to raise awareness about epilepsy since living with epilepsy is difficult in lots of ways, but it is often the stigma and ignorance surrounding epilepsy that stops people from coming to grips with this widespread and devastating disorder”.
The events will take place at the Stuart, Jensen, Vero and Sebastian locations from 5-8pm on August 16. For further information, contact one of the participating Mulligan’s locations or visit the Epilepsy Foundation of Florida website: www.EpilepsyFLA.org.
