November: National Epilepsy Awareness Month

Let's Talk

(click here to download the PDF flyer)

November Is Epilepsy Awareness Month

Each year, some 50,000 Americans die from seizures and related causes. With 375,000 Floridians and three million Americans suffering from epilepsy, it is the fourth most common neurological disorder in the US after Alzheimer’s, migraine and stroke. About as many people have epilepsy as have cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease – combined. More people die yearly from seizure-related causes than die from breast cancer.

Let's Talk About It!

November is national Epilepsy Awareness Month. During November, the Epilepsy Foundation of Florida is holding a series of events aimed at educating Floridians about this neurological condition, while also raising funds to benefit those living with epilepsy. In addition, supporters throughout the state are encouraged to hold private dinners in their homes to raise funds.

There are numerous ways you can participate:

Let's Talk About It! Dinner Expedition Epilepsy

Hold your own dinner, get-together, bake sale or any other event you wish In celebration of Epilepsy Awareness Month, the Epilepsy Foundation of Florida is inviting its supporters to host a dinner, get-together or other event for your friends, families and colleagues.  It can be in your home, favorite restaurant, church or anywhere you choose.  Choose a theme: a sit-down dinner, backyard BBQ, cocktail hour – anything you’d like!  Then invite all your friends, colleagues and family.  We'll send you a Host Kit with the information you’ll need.  Simply decide the suggested donation you’ll ask of your attendees, with all money raised from your dinner going to the Epilepsy Foundation of Florida.  You can decide to ask for a specific amount from each guest or let guests make a donation amount of their choice.  Click here to register on our secure registration page.
